BAILLOQUET, PIERRE, priest, Jesuit; b. 14 Oct. 1613 at Saintes, in France; d. 7 June 1692 at the Saint-François-Xavier mission among the Ottawa Indians.
Pierre Bailloquet entered the Society of Jesus on 17 Nov. 1633 at Bordeaux. He taught at Bordeaux and Poitiers before going to Quebec, where he arrived in June 1647. For 45 years he served faithfully the French settlers and native tribes in the missions that extended from Port-Royal in Acadia to the Sioux in Illinois.
